UNDER THE INSPIRATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND AT THE REQUEST of our Blessed Mother and the words of her beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ to “DO WHAT MY MOTHER HAS ASKED YOU TO DO”, Br Francis Mary of Our Lady of the Rosary, FFBVM, founded the congregation of the Franciscan Friars of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mary’s Army in Blue. The Congregation was officially named on October 4, 1997. **One year later the congregation was officially approved on October 4, 1998, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, by the Most Reverend Gregory A. Francisco, I, D.D. PhD, Archbishop of the Province of the Holy Spirit, United Catholic Church in America, Martinez, Georgia. Br. Francis Mary was appointed Minor General of the Congregation. On October 17, 1998, Br Francis Mary was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood.

For many years, due to health problems, Fr Francis Mary FFBVM was not able to do much of anything. Then after a near death experience, Father prayed and he told Jesus “you please handle the health and I will do what our Blessed Mother has asked me to do”. His health started improving almost immediately.

**Father Francis Mary met with the Vicar General for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Savannah, Georgia and has been instructed to start accepting candidates and living the Rule and Prayer Life and following the Constitution of our Order.

**On December 8, 2015, Fr Francis Mary FFBVM was accepted back into the Roman Catholic Church as a layman.  He now goes by Br Francis Mary FFBVM and/or Friar Francis Mary FFBVM until such time as the Bishop decides whether to ordain him a priest in the Roman Catholic Church.   The Franciscan Friars of the Blessed Virgin Mary are members of the Roman Catholic Church for ever.  Praise God for leading us back home.

In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, our members, solemnly professed in perpetual vows (priests and brothers, novices in temporary vows and postulants), will live the life in community with each other, follow the Rule of St. Francis as approved by Pope Honorius III in 1223 A.D.  And all share in the life and work of the community. This lifestyle is so to foster: 1) a more regular and dedicated life; 2) a better candidate formation of the life; 3) a greater spread of the kingdom of God throughout the world and 4) a fervent, daily recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Office).

The Friars will use the Printed Word to teach and spread the Gospel . They will evangelize the world by any means granted them so as to search out and bring back the lost and strayed sheep and strengthen the weak.

Each Friar is subject to the Supreme Authority of the Roman Catholic Church. The foundation of our Congregation is the Religious Profession of the Evangelical Vows of Poverty, Chastity, Obedience and the Marian Vow of Total Consecration of ones’ whole self to Mary Immaculate for the remainder of their earthly life. The simple Act of Consecration will be Professed daily.  The Act of Consecration to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will be made daily, also.

All Friars who have professed perpetual vows and those in temporary vows have equal rights and obligations in the community.

Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will be on a daily bases. The Communal Rosary will be said daily after Compline except Tuesdays. In which the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Mary will be said and the Litany of Loretto will be said following the Rosary, daily. The Friars are to entrust the observance of perfect Chastity to Her maternal care.

We, as Franciscans should and will follow our brother Franciscans throughout the world, by trusting in our Lord Jesus Christ, in His words and relying on His help. The Friars should persevere in the practice of supernatural and natural means to safeguard their Chastity by deep intimate prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Devotion to the passion of Christ by saying the Stations of the Cross, daily when possible. By meditating on the Sacred Scriptures, frequent confession and spiritual direction. By a special Devotion and love of our Blessed Mother, especially saying the Rosary daily and more when possible, since our Congregation was founded at Her request. She has Blessed us with vocations as She promised, and by Sacrificial Love for others in the Simplicity of St. Francis of Assisi, and by a genuine participation in the communal life of the Congregation.

The Friars will denounce ownership of all possessions prior to Profession of Solemn Perpetual Vows. While in temporary vows as a novice and postulants will have someone on the outside of the Community to safeguard any possessions in case they discover our life style is not for them and they choose to leave.

In the prayer life of the Friars over and above the Prayer Life of the Community should be special prayers asking God for the graces, strength and ability to strictly observe the Marian Vow and the Vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience. And to follow the Rule and Constitution of our Congregation with a sincere heart and love of God, our Blessed Mother, St. Francis of Assisi and of each other.

May Our Lord Jesus Christ grant us the Graces needed to live our Religious Life as it should be and to Love one another as well as those we meet and work with.  May Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us and keep us in Her Mantel of Protection always.  May St Francis of Assisi pray for us and guide us along the path to do what has been asked of us.

May we all live and work together and Love one another in the SIMPLICITY of ST. Francis of Assisi.
